Preparation.

Hello!

National University of Ireland, Galway

I had three days of orientation this week. The first day was with people from my program in the UC system. The next two orientations were with the university itself. There's 8 of us from the UCs and about 300 American students from other schools. So there will be a lot of Americans around still. We have to take 30 units worth of classes here--so 6 classes??! Each class is worth either 5 or 10 units. The thought just makes me die inside a little bit. I'm used to taking 3 or 4 classes. But I'm going to take a 10 unit Irish language class (let you know how that goes.. haha), a class on King Arthur, and three archaeology classes. My schedule is actually looking pretty good, right now I have Mondays off.

Signing up for classes is a lot different here. Instead of an online system, you go to each class and try them out to see what you think. Two weeks later you add all of the classes you want. It makes me a little bit nervous since I'm not sure how impacted the classes are. I'm used to stalking the internet until a spot opens up in a class. It's definitely a lot more laid back here!

It's been a little over a week since I've been abroad & I'm already sick!! Yesterday no sound was coming out of my mouth. It's hard to be sociable when you can't say anything. Today I'm a little bit better, but I have a really bad cough and raspy voice... still hard to be sociable. I am really glad that I arrived a week early because navigating the city with a sick haze is kinda rough.

I've moved out of the hostel and into a house, yahoooooo! I'm currently by myself, but my 5 roommates arrive tonight! School starts tomorrow.

Also rainy day count: 9/10. It has rained 90% of the time I've been here. Still acclimating, haha.
